Det skal ske ved at reducere de sociale, helbredsmæssige og økonomiske problemer, der følger med misbruget.   En ny undersøgelse fra SFI viser, at skadesreduktionsmodellen ofte leder til, at misbrugerne har meget lidt kontakt til behandlingssystemet. En tredjedel af dem får udleveret metadon uden psykosocial behandlingskontakt. Yderligere 45% har opfølgende samtaler så sjældent, at indsatserne ikke lever op til definitionen på behandling. Mange misbrugere efterlyser mere kontakt til deres behandlere. De føler sig udstødte, ensomme og ”parkeret på metadon”. Nogle siger lige frem, at de føler sig opgivet af behandlingssystemet.   Undersøgelsens resultater rejser spørgsmålet, om strategien med at opgive stoffrihed og satse på såkaldt skadesreduktion er den rigtige. Svigter samfundet narkomanerne eller giver man dem det, de selv ønsker? Bør behandlingssystemet være mere opsøgende?   Forskerne bag rapporten fortæller på mødet om undersøgelsens resultater.
