Public Seminar Series Spring 2007 - Visions for Human Rights in Europe: Changing Dynamics of the European Court of Human Rights The Danish Institute for Human Rights has the great pleasure to announce a seminar by Professor Francoise Hampson Human Rights Centre, University of Essex Professor Hampson will talk about: Representing clients before the European human rights machinery 6 March 2007, 10:00 12:00 Françoise Hampson, LLB (Newcastle) is a barrister and a Professor of Law. She has taught, researched and published widely in the fields of armed conflict, international humanitarian law and on the European Convention on Human Rights. She has litigated many cases before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, including the cases of Aksoy, Aydin, Selcuk and Asker, Ergi, Kurt (with A.Reidy), Ilhan, Tas, Timurtas, Akdeniz, all against Turkey and, with several others, Bankovic v. Belgium and 16 other NATO States. Francoise Hampson is also co-Director of the Children and Armed Conflict Monitoring Unit based at the University of Essex and is a Governor of the British Institute of Human Rights. The seminar will be based on Francoise Hampson’s experience with using the Strasbourg machinery; she will reflect on issues arising from her involvement in both ordinary and extraordinary cases before the European Court of Human Rights. All are welcome The seminar takes place at the Danish Institute for Human Rights, the Nordskov Room, Wilders Plads 8H, 1401 Copenhagen K. Registration is not needed.
